Club 10
Life was kind of hard for so many in Lock Down Land
Where ordinary folk just could not understand
Why some wore masks and others did not
Why nobody really cared if they coughed a lot
They couldn’t go out they were forced to stay in
Social gatherings were being cast as a sin
Those in care were to suffer incarceration
Isolated they waited for death and cremation
The privileged soon became bored
They needed a place where rules were ignored
With no social distance where liquor was poured
Coming to their rescue catering to their need
Was a place where the wealthy could display greed
For within earshot of the famous Big Ben
There was a very special place known as Club 10
Where rules were for fools at Club 10 you could choose
How many you met and you could even bring your own booze
A place of some notoriety
Where one could indulge in a wee dram or two
Whilst forgetting about sobriety
If you knew the right folk then you could come too
Club 10 was a place to escape the world outside
Where folks gasped on ventilators and then died
Whilst behind the bar at the iniquitous den
The privileged were happy to be members of Club 10
They sat in the garden and drank with delight
At Club 10 they were able to party all night
Safe in the knowledge they were out of sight
Outside might be grim but their party was bright
Club 10 had a landlord who loved a barbecue fire
Enticing his members with a pub quiz now and then
Some had a suspicion he might be a bit of a liar
When he claimed non-existence of the den at Club 10
Some members broke ranks and started to talk
They even had pictures to show it existed
The landlord was firm he would not walk
No matter how long the rumours persisted
I don’t know why and I don’t know if and when
We’ll ever know the truth of all the gatherings at Club 10
